Transport & travel preparation
A safe arrival begins long before departure. We are building a reliable network for carefully prepared handovers and responsible adoptions.
G.A. Life – our animal transport partner
ANIMAL HOPE GREECE cooperates with G.A. Life for animal transport. Based in Greece, the company offers transport for dogs and cats between Greece and other European countries.
We remain open to additional transport partners and continue to expand our network. Routes, dates, availability and costs are agreed individually for each animal.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Flight volunteers (airport helpers): People already travelling on a suitable route who can accompany an animal with a confirmed placement and completed travel preparation. This includes handovers agreed in advance at Thessaloniki Airport and the agreed destination airport.
- Local drivers: Short journeys agreed in advance, for example to a veterinarian, handover point or airport.
- Lawful animal transport: Experienced providers with a traceable route, appropriate animal care, agreed insurance arrangements, temperature management and an emergency plan.
- Foster homes and adoptive families: Suitable temporary placements and safe, permanent homes; every enquiry is assessed individually.
- Responsible animal welfare organisations: Organisations able to receive animals from Greece lawfully, place them in suitable foster care and arrange responsible rehoming.
- Pre- and post-adoption home-check volunteers, veterinarians, clinics, dog trainers and specialists: Help also for fearful, injured or particularly vulnerable animals.
- Airlines, businesses and supporters: Suitable transport crates, confirmed animal places or direct coverage of previously agreed, documented transport costs.
How we prepare a safe journey
- A suitable place with an adoptive family, foster home or checked partner organisation is firmly confirmed.
- Identity, microchip, vaccinations, health status, EU pet passport and the certificates required for the individual case are checked.
- Required registration/EMZS procedures and, where applicable, TRACES are clarified with the competent municipality, authorised veterinarians, veterinary authority and suitable parties.
- The airline or transporter confirms the animal’s place, crate, route, costs, insurance arrangements and responsibilities in writing.
- Collection, handover, the receiving person and emergency contacts are agreed before departure. There are no spontaneous or unchecked handovers.
Clear roles and transparent costs
A flight volunteer accompanies the animal but does not automatically pay its transport fee. Flight volunteering includes the agreed accompaniment and airport assistance; it creates no ownership or decision-making rights over the animal. Cross-border rehoming is not represented as a private holiday trip.
Only actual, documented veterinary, document and transport costs may be agreed. Where possible, payment is made directly to the service provider. Costs already covered by someone else are not charged again. No free transport or fixed destination has been promised.
Cooperation after personal checks
An enquiry does not automatically make anyone a partner. We check working practices, required authorisations, responsibilities and animal care. Names and logos are used only with explicit mutual permission. ANIMAL HOPE GREECE is currently a private animal welfare project with a foster facility, not a registered animal welfare organisation or licensed shelter.
Would you like to join our rescue and transport network?
We welcome enquiries from flight volunteers (airport helpers), experienced animal transport providers, foster homes and responsible animal welfare organisations. Every cooperation is checked personally, organisationally and legally beforehand. Please briefly describe how you could help and on which route.
For the first contact, your role, a possible route, date or period, transport type and contact details are sufficient. Please do not initially send identity-document copies or booking codes. Visits, deliveries and handovers require express prior agreement.
