2. Visiting the website and WordPress.com
The website is hosted on WordPress.com. Aut O’Mattic A8C Ireland Ltd., Grand Canal Dock, 25 Herbert Pl, Dublin, D02 AY86, Ireland is responsible for the service in Europe. Automattic Inc. in the USA is also involved in certain processing activities.
When you visit, the platform processes technical information such as your IP address, browser and operating system, language, pages visited, referring website, and date and time. This is used to deliver the website, maintain security and troubleshoot errors. WordPress.com also provides visitor statistics, such as page views and the country derived from the IP address. Automattic states a retention period of approximately 30 days for server logs and IP addresses used for statistical purposes.
Our legitimate interest in operating the website securely and providing understandable project information is the basis for necessary technical processing (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Additional functions requiring consent are governed by the relevant consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Further information about data types, recipients and platform functions is provided in the privacy notice for website visitors and the Automattic privacy policy.
3. Cookies, statistics and platform advertising
WordPress.com uses cookies and similar technologies for necessary functions, preferences, statistics and, where applicable, advertising. Platform advertising may appear on free WordPress.com websites. When you use WordPress.com features such as following, subscribing or likes, the platform also processes the information submitted for those purposes; public likes may be visible in connection with a profile.
If WordPress.com displays choices for optional cookies or advertising, you can make your selection there and change it using the privacy options provided. Cookies can also be deleted or blocked in your browser. This may restrict functionality. Information about cookie purposes, providers, lifetimes and choices is available in the Automattic cookie policy.
4. Contact by email
If you write to animalhope.greece@gmail.com, your email address, your name where provided, the message content, attached files and technical transmission data are processed to handle and answer your enquiry. This also applies to initial questions about animals, adoption, foster homes or support.
The basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). For pre-contractual steps requested by you, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR applies. Any further use based on your consent is governed by Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
The mailbox is operated using Gmail. Google processes messages and technical data to provide and secure the email service. For users in the European Economic Area, Google identifies Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland as the responsible company. Details are provided in the Google privacy policy.
The information is needed to respond to your message; there is no general obligation to contact us. Please send only the information necessary for an initial enquiry.
Enquiries are deleted once they have been fully handled and there is no need for further communication, statutory retention or justified retention to safeguard legal claims. Article 6(1)(c) GDPR applies to legally required retention; Article 6(1)(f) GDPR applies where necessary to pursue legal claims.
5. Recipients and processing outside Europe
Access is provided to the website operator and the service providers used for website and email operation, as well as their necessary technical subcontractors. Data are disclosed to authorities or other bodies where there is a legal obligation or another valid legal basis.
Automattic and Google operate international infrastructure. Processing may therefore take place outside the European Economic Area, particularly in the USA. Automattic describes standard contractual clauses, among other measures, as a safeguard; Google explains its grounds for international transfers separately. Information about safeguards and contact options can be found in the Automattic privacy policy and Google information on data transfers.
6. Scope of the current service
The project pages currently contain no proprietary contact or application forms, no shop and no payment processing. Comments are closed on these pages. WordPress.com platform functions are described in sections 2 and 3.
The website currently makes no automated decisions about adoptions or other matters. Before additional procedures are offered, for example for specific adoptions, sponsorships or payments, the relevant privacy information will be added.
7. Your rights
Subject to the statutory requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may object to direct marketing at any time.
You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of processing before withdrawal remains unaffected.
For matters concerning our processing, you can contact animalhope.greece@gmail.com. For data processed by platform providers under their own responsibility, contact details are available in their linked privacy policies.
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, particularly where you usually live, work or believe an infringement has occurred. In Greece, this is the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
